Violent clashes irrupted in al-Bukamal City in eastern rural Deir ez-Zor using different kinds of weapons between ISIS and a family from the area called Khalifa following verbal arguments and fights between the two.
Many members of the Khalifa family pledged support to ISIS and were considered as one of its pillars in the city. Sources of “Sound & Picture” in the city reported that the controversy began when Saddam al-Jamal from ISIS arrested several Khalifa family members to show his authority as the first leader in al-Bukamal City.
The sources explained that the clashes took place in the local market and al-Hajana after killing Muhammad Mujhem Khalifa, an ISIS member, in front of civilians by Muhammad al-Jamal who is Saddam’s brother.
Many people were also killed and wounded including Saddam’s cousin Muhammad Saed who was taken to a hospital in al-Mayadeen in eastern rural Deir ez-Zor.
Afterwards, ISIS tightened its bans to reduce the clashes and arrested several armed men, and made raids to some of its members in the countryside who were supporters of Saddam.
ISIS lost tens of its foreign fighters especially Iraqi ones who were killed in al-Boukamal City without knowing the perpetrators.
