EXCLUSIVE – Sound and Picture
IS spread its control over oil and gas fields, rivers and dams, which in case owned by smallest country in Europe it could have created a significant economic force. However, the personal ambitions of each fighter in IS contributed in the dissipation of this wealth which was only controlled by IS leaders. IS has denied people the necessities of life, to the extent that even fruits became a dream to people who live under IS the control, as in the case of purchasing two types of fruits, one will spend the rest of the month unable to afford a loaf of bread.
Depriving people of the necessities of life is not the only thing that IS knows how to do, but also depriving people of life itself. Many detainees have stayed under detention for more than three years without any charges or intention for releasing, as detainees for IS are its human shields and a renewed blood and body parts bank for its injured or sick princes.
132 detainees in the city of Mosul were executed on the fifth of March in Wadi Iqab cemetery west of Mosul. This happened after the security office of Sharia courts ordered to rush the implementation of death penalties. A special source within IS in Mosul revealed to “Sound and Picture” that the decision has been taken due to the security office complains about the food expenses and that many detainees were sick as a result taking blood from the frequently, making the costs of treatment so high.
The source also revealed that the so-called Abu Maryam Al-anbari, one of the security leaders in the city, has requested to carry out executions for nearly 150 detainees in order to reduce food and medical expenses as most of detainees are no longer useful for blood withdrawal, and to frighten people again after IS’s repeated defeats.
In Raqqa/Syria, the situation was very similar. The security office has executed about 68 detainees whose detention duration exceeded two years. The executions took a place in Safsafa village southwest Raqqa, without any reference to Sharia Court. Just like what happened in Mousel, the security office in Raqqa attribute the executions to reduce expenses. One of IS member’s relative said to “Sound and Picture”: “My cousin told me about the executing of 68 detainee in Safsafa village and that IS has the intention to execute 50 others at the end of March to reduce expenses”.
It is worth mentioning that IS has decreased its members’ salaries and stopped providing food aids for married couples, and that happened due to the economic crisis that plagued IS as a result of the Lack of resources and the thefts that happened by IS members who stole IS’s money and fled away.
