After a lull in the fighting fronts in for several months between the regime forces and IS in Deir Ezzor province east of Syria, IS renewed the battles in a search of a new victory after a series of defeats in the Raqqa northern countryside and Hasaka northeast Syria.

The military airport is the target

In September 9th, IS performed an attack on Deir Ezzor Airport using heavy and medium weapons, where IS fighters were able to took over a number of points in the airport surroundings after blowing two car bombs in regime forces locations there.

“Sound and Picture” reporter said: “IS fighters took control of the white building, which is one of the most important strategic points within the airport perimeter, along with the rocket battalion, and that was after the bombing of two car bombs by Syrian suicide bombers.
